Pioneer is one of the oldest-established electronics companies in the world - having been in existence since 1937, though only trading under the name of Pioneer since 1961. There are few, if any, companies around today which can boast that they have been working in the field of electronics for over 70 years. In electronics, as with everything, experience counts.
Pioneer has always put innovation in technology, coupled with design, to the forefront of its business and has many "world-first" products to its credit - including the first seperate stereo system in 1962, the first component car stereo in 1975, the first GPS Car Navigation System in 1990, the first DVD/LD/CD compatible Player in 1996, the first XGA plasma display in 1997, and the first DVD recorder in 1999.

In January 2009 Pioneer announced that it will cease involvment in the flat-screen TV market in 2010, and is instead re-focusing its design and marketing efforts on its audio and video products. The current Kuro inventory of LCD and Plasma TVs and projectors has now been exhausted and no further stocks are available from Pioneer. Pioneer has therefore now exited the TV and display market. The company will however continue to honour it's warranty obligations, in particular the 5-year warranty it offers on in-store purchases.
Pioneer has returned to its roots - its heritage in high-end audio and video systems, wherever they may be used. At home, in the car, out clubbing - Pioneer's audio and video products are as good as they get. It has specialist divisions for in in-car entertainment and navigation systems; home cinema systems comprising all-in-one systems, DVD and blu-ray players, hi-fi seperates and reference-quality speakers; special DJ equipment (CD and DVD decks, mixers, effectors and accessories); as well as an industrial products division producing industrial-strength blu-ray, DVD, and solid-state players designed for professional use.
New for Christmas 2009 is the introduction of a range of headphones, from simple ear-buds to high-end enclosed headphones. All are designed to outperform there competitors at any given price-point.
So you can be sure that whichever type of Pioneer system you are interested in it will continue to reflect Pioneer's proud tradition of producing top-quality products featuring innovative design and leading edge technology. But if you are looking for a Pioneer Plasma TV we very much regret that we no longer have any stock available.
