At the foundations, the aluminium side, front and top panels, rigid under-base construction and special quadruple-layered chassis sit firmly on vibration damping TAOC feet to form a highly stable platform, virtually free from mechanical noise and interference.

An isolated power supply block, twin R-core transformers, Schottky barrier diodes and parallel low ESR capacitors all add up to exceptionally quick response, low-noise, low-loss circuits capable of transmitting the purest, most unadulterated sound. Direct Construction further suppresses signal interference and minimises distortion, separating digital and analogue circuits and optimising the position of components along the signal route to ensure the highest grade master-audio quality possible.

A high-performance Low-Jitter crystal oscillator provides the foundation for the PD-D9MK2's new and extremely stable high precision twin master clock. Twin Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analogue converters, operating in parallel to enhance linearity and dynamic range, guarantee reproduction of the most subtle musical details.

Pioneer's proprietary Hi-bit Legato Link Conversion PRO processor removes quantisation noise and delivers a waveform that is both smoother and closer to the original than conventional 16-bit CD recording technology can achieve by computing the original waveform and re-quantising it in expanded 20-bit form. And Legato Link provides the additional benefit of extending the frequency response to 20kHz to ensure even more accurate and natural sound reproduction.

The PD-D9MK2-K plays SACD, CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs with ease and is compatible with MP3 and WMA compressed audio formats. Pure Audio listening mode switches off the digital circuitry and display for a clean and detailed analogue sound reproduction.
